YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hopewell Theatre has announced the rescheduled dates for its production of “Glassheart.” The play will be performed July 17-19 at the theater, 702 Mahoning Ave.
“Glassheart” was originally scheduled for early June but had to be postponed.
The play, by Reina Hardy and directed by Jaye Mills, will run for only three performances over one weekend.
“Glassheart” is a romantic tragicomedy that is actually an offbeat, mature riff on the classic “Beauty and the Beast” tale.
After centuries under the curse, the Beast and his remaining magical servant (a hopelessly optimistic lamp) move into a shabby Chicago apartment, hoping for a lower cost of living and better luck with girls. In the threatening, impossible and completely ordinary world of paying rent and taking public transportation, is a happy ending even possible? That is what the play examines.
Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. July 17-18 and 2 p.m. July 19.
