WARREN, Ohio – The number of houses sold in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in May was down about 2% from a year earlier.
Cumulatively, 475 houses were sold in the three counties in May, compared with 484 in the same month a year earlier, MLS Now, a multiple listing service collecting sales data from the northeastern Ohio region, reported.
That includes 217 houses sold in Mahoning County in May, compared with 220 in May 2025, a 1.4% decrease. In Trumbull County, 174 houses were sold in May, down 7% from 187 a year earlier. In Columbiana County, 84 units were sold in May, up 9.1% from 77 in May 2025.
New listings in May decreased 7.5% in Mahoning County. They increased 3.9% in Trumbull County and 7.8% in Columbiana County.
The total volume of houses sold in May compared with the same period a year earlier was down in all three counties.
In Mahoning County, May sales totaled $48.5 million, down 7.1% from $52.3 million a year earlier. In Trumbull County, total sales were down 10.1%, from $39.6 million in May 2025 to $35.6 million in May 2026. In Columbiana County, dollar volume totaled $16 million in May, down 4.1% from $16.7 million a year earlier.
Average sales prices in May compared with the same period a year earlier were also down in all three counties.
The average sale in Mahoning County in May was $223,878, down 5.9% from $237,808 a year earlier. The average sales price in Trumbull County in May was $205,020, a 3.3% decrease from May 2025’s $212,099. Columbiana County’s average sales price in May was $190,839, down 12.2% from $217,284 in May 2025.
