COLUMBIANA, Ohio – Humtown, a global leader in the manufacturing of sand cores and molds for the foundry industry, has been named a finalist in the 2025 Manufacturing Leadership Awards for its achievement in collaborative ecosystems.
Humtown’s initiative, “Where Education and Manufacturing Unite to Empower Next-Gen Industrial Athletes,” enabled the company to demonstrate how partnering with schools and their K-12 students can help change the mindset of the next generation of workers so they can see the opportunities in a manufacturing career.
A video of a student-led tour of Humtown’s additive manufacturing facility can be viewed HERE.
“We underestimate the intelligence, maturity and career interests of our young adults,” said Mark Lamoncha, Humtown president and CEO. “Our collaborative efforts demonstrated that given the opportunity, K-12 students are not only motivated to learn more about manufacturing, they can lead their peers through a manufacturing educational experience.”
The other finalists are Bayer Crop Science, EnerSys, Hitachi Astemo, Iowa State University CIRAS, Johnson & Johnson, Lexmark International Inc., MxD, PACCAR, Pella Corp., Whirlpool Corp. and Winnebago Industries.
Humtown will be recognized along with the other award finalists at the Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala on June 18 at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, Fla. Winners in all project and individual categories will be announced at that time, along with the Manufacturers of the Year and Manufacturing Leader of the Year.
