YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Compelling photographs of the city’s most impressive statues are arranged on a new art poster that is available for purchase.

The poster, which bears the words “Iconic Youngstown,” was created by Richard M Hahn. It features black-and-white photos that he shot within the city’s most prominent public spaces.

Statues of steelworkers, historical figures, civic leaders and other recognizable figures are on the poster.

Hahn said they tell the story of Youngstown.

“The images are dramatic and cinematic, shot with the kind of moody, atmospheric treatment you’d expect from a museum wall, not a gift shop rack,” he said. “That’s intentional. My goal wasn’t to create a souvenir. It was to create a genuine art object that Youngstown residents would be proud to hang in their homes.”

The photos honor the city’s blue-collar heritage and give each subject the prestige it deserves.

“These icons stand in our parks and plazas every day, and most people walk right past them,” Hahn said. “I wanted to stop people in their tracks and make them see Youngstown the way I see it.”

Hahn, 78, had a long career in the Mahoning Valley in marketing and branding. He is the founder of the public relations/marketing firm Keynote Media Group and currently works as a marketing consultant.

He has also become very active in photography and has captured images from around the world.

“My passion for creativity has never waned,” he said.

His work has been featured in galleries around the area and was the subject of an exhibition at The Butler Institute of American Art in 2024. It has also appeared in galleries in Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Virginia, California,

Wyoming, Indiana, Texas and Colorado.

The poster is available in two sizes: 18 inches by 12 inches ($32) and 24 inches by 18 inches ($42). Hahn can also reproduce it in any requested size.
