The Business Journal asked readers to nominate people who have made a significant positive impact on their workplace and in the community. Here is one of the Impact Makers:
Lauren Berger
Operations Director, Broadway Recovery Services, Youngstown
Lauren Berger is the director of operations for Broadway Recovery Services. The Boardman-based nonprofit operates recovery homes in the Mahoning Valley, including the only operating recovery home in Columbiana County.
After fighting her own battle with addiction, Lauren found that in helping others she is positively effecting change. She brings her hard-fought experience and knowledge to her clinical work and to operations as a licensed chemical dependency counselor and peer recovery support specialist.
Lauren’s ability to navigate technology leads to quicker and better outcomes for the staff, patients and residents. She can hurdle over programs and issues that may otherwise slow down an organization. Her ability to fill gaps in manpower has allowed BRS to grow in an impactful way, keeping resources fluid during gaps in funding.
Lauren was a critical project manager during the planning and operation of new recovery homes and the accreditation of these homes with Ohio Recovery Homes. Her ability to see the needs of the organization and set its priorities have had impactful and lasting effects.
Nominated by Barbara Hierro.
