The Business Journal asked readers to nominate people who have made a significant positive impact on their workplace and in the community. Here is one of the Impact Makers:

Marcy Angelo
Founder and Partner, Project Tom
Partner, White Glove Payroll

Marcy is an exceptional business leader, community advocate, and all-around remarkable person. As her sisters, we may be a little biased, but her achievements truly speak for themselves. She has attained significant success as a woman in the business world, all while staying deeply engaged with her local community and maintaining an inspiring work-life balance.

A proud 2010 graduate of Hubbard High School, Marcy went on to earn a BSBA and a nonprofit leadership certificate from YSU’s Williamson College of Business in 2015. She began her professional journey with impactful roles at Junior Achievement and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, both serving the Mahoning Valley. Today, she is a partner—and an unofficial ice cream taste-tester—at White Glove Payroll and HD Growth Partners, based in Youngstown, OH.

Marcy’s commitment to giving back shines through her volunteer work with organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association and Pete’s Pride. Most notably, she and her sisters founded Project Tom, a heartwarming initiative that sends free greeting cards worldwide. To date, the project has delivered over 2,500 cards to recipients in all 50 states and 26 countries.

Marcy has been a transformative force at White Glove Payroll from the very beginning, driving a meaningful, lasting impact on both the company and the community.

Under her leadership, the team has doubled in size over the past five years while maintaining an impressive turnover rate of less than 10%. This speaks to the supportive, family-like culture she has fostered—a workplace where people feel valued and motivated to grow.

Marcy has also championed significant advancements in company processes, ensuring the team operates efficiently and effectively. During the complexities of the COVID era, she skillfully navigated ever-changing legislation, helping clients secure over $13 million in ERTC funds. Her ability to adapt and guide others through challenging times has strengthened relationships with clients and positioned White Glove Payroll as a trusted partner.

Her leadership is building a foundation of resilience, innovation, and community connection that will undoubtedly leave a long-lasting positive impact.

Marcy exemplifies leadership and teamwork. She prioritizes her team’s work-life balance, recognizing and rewarding their hard work with thoughtful gifts and acknowledgments. When challenges arise or deadlines loom, Marcy isn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and work alongside her team to find solutions.

Her open-door approach to feedback fosters a positive and motivated work environment. While maintaining a clear boundary between friendship and professionalism, Marcy has cultivated a workplace culture that feels like family. She empowers her team with autonomy, ensuring they have the flexibility needed to maintain their balance between work and personal life.

Under her leadership, the company upholds core values that align with this ethos—promoting balance, continuous learning, dreaming big, and giving back to the community. These values not only guide the team but also reflect Marcy’s dedication to building a supportive, purpose-driven workplace.

Marcy’s remarkable contributions are evident through her outstanding results, projects, and successes.

She has driven a 425% increase in revenue over the past five years, showcasing her strategic leadership and commitment to growth.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she navigated complex legislation to assist clients in securing $13 million in Employee Retention Tax Credits (ERTC), providing vital financial relief.
