Beth Kotwis Carmichael

The Business Journal asked readers to nominate people who have made a significant positive impact on their workplace and in the community. Here is one of the Impact Makers:

Beth Kotwis Carmichael
Executive Director, Trumbull County Tourism, Warren

Beth Kotwis Carmichael is “truly Trumbull” as a leader (and impact maker) in tourism for the county. Her knowledge and experience in destination marketing and of the tourism industry has led to enormously positive impacts on our county politically, economically and emotionally.

Beth has helped make the businesses and people of Trumbull County even prouder of who we are. Her belief in the betterment of the county is infectious And therefore it has bled into the belief systems of her staff and her community. This is not only her mission but her passion.

Beth’s work in Trumbull is often compared to that of much larger tourism organizations within the state. But it is important to note that she is often a “one-woman show.” The staff at Trumbull Tourism has been as low as two people and as large as only four. To say her impact and efforts have her “punching above her weight” (as she likes to say) is  an understatement.

A great example of her work is the Korean Kitchen Takeover event. This was aimed at celebrating Korean heritage, facilitating interactions between the leadership team at Ultium Cells and local business leaders, and addressing the pressing need for amenities for Koreans visiting the area. Through her efforts, the event was a sell-out. The 200 attendees were split between Ultium staff and local business leaders. Ohio Magazine awarded this project a Spirit of the Community Ruby Award for 2024.
