YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Insight Foundation of Trumbull and one the companies that sued it have reached a settlement.

Roche Diagnostics Corp. filed a lawsuit last May in federal court in Youngstown against the foundation, citing breach of contract. It contended Insight owed it $294,646.

Court records show the case was settled Wednesday. “The Court has been informed that the parties have reached a settlement agreement in this matter,” the docket entry says. 

According to the 2025 lawsuit, Roche, of Indianapolis, had a contract with the former Steward Health Care System. That company, which operated hospitals and other health care companies across the country, filed for bankruptcy protection in May 2024 in Texas.

In 2024, Insight became the operator of the former Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland, both of which had been part of Steward. The lawsuit says that Roche received a Sept. 30, 2024, letter that read, “As of September 11, 2024, all expenses incurred by the Hospitals [Trumbull Regional and Hillside] will be the responsibility of Insight.”

It says Roche sent a letter of agreement to Insight in October 2024 saying Roche would maintain the pricing under the original agreement for Insight until Roche and Insight reached a new agreement. The company invoiced Insight, but Insight didn’t pay, it says.

The two Trumbull County hospitals, renamed Insight Hospital & Medical Center Trumbull and Insight Rehabilitation Hospital Hillside, closed in March 2025. Insight cited a lack of transferred dollars owed for services delivered at both hospitals.

Insight reopened the Warren hospital’s emergency room Oct. 14, with plans to reopen other services in phases. But it closed the following month, with Insight claiming regulatory hurdles and barriers from the Ohio Department of Health affected its Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification.

In January, Insight Health System signed a settlement with the Ohio Department of Health, agreeing to surrender its hospital license for Insight Hospital & Medical Center Trumbull.
