MASURY, Ohio – Specialty Strip & Oscillating Inc. and JCL Development in Sharon, Pa., are in a strategic equity partnership to accelerate the steel service center’s next phase of growth, the companies announced in a news release Friday afternoon.

The news release cited the “key role” that Jim Landino, owner of JCL Development and founder and CEO of JCL Energy, has played in downtown Sharon’s revitalization and his “proven track record” with strengthening small- to medium-size industrial businesses, which “aligns perfectly” with the long-term vision for Specialty Strip & Oscillating.

Operating since 1994, Specialty Strip & Oscillating supplies cold-rolled carbon, high-carbon, alloy and stainless steel coils, according to the release. The company specializes in conventional slit coils and oscillated coils and offers customizable finishes, tempers and packaging options. The company has 30 employees.

“This partnership marks an exciting step forward for our company,” said Adam von Philp, president of Specialty Strip & Oscillating. “Jim’s experience and support will help us expand capacity, improve efficiency and continue delivering the exceptional quality our customers expect.”

The partnership combines von Philp’s and Landino’s strengths to scale the business thoughtfully while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and reliability, according to the release. Key priorities for the new ownership partnership include expanding into new customer segments; enhancing operational efficiency and workflow; increasing production capacity to meet growing demand; and advancing capabilities in slit and oscillated coil production.

Terms of the deal and the size of JCL’s equity stake were not disclosed. A JCL development spokesperson said principals with the companies preferred to keep the partnership’s parameters and specifics confidential.

“JCL’s involvement is intended to reinforce Specialty Strip’s strong customer relationships and service-driven approach, while supporting continued responsiveness and strategic growth into additional markets,” the spokesperson said.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Adam and the team,” Landino said in the release. “Specialty Strip & Oscillating has a strong foundation, and we look forward to helping the company grow while preserving the values that have made it successful.”

Additionally, current JCL Development employees Haley Valenly and Mandy Schneider will take on roles at Specialty Strip.

Valenly, property manager for JCL Development, will serve as a sales representative for Specialty Strip, leveraging her sales expertise to expand the company’s presence in the Cleveland market. Schneider, who helps handle property and equipment management for JCL Development, will be in the accounting department at Specialty Strip, where she will strengthen back-end operations with a focus on accounting and financial reporting.
