YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – John Mayer will headline the second concert that has been added to Y-Live weekend.
The rock guitarist and songwriter will perform on Friday, Sept. 26, at Wean Park, according to show promoter JAC Live. The opening act or acts will be announced in the near future.
The following day, Sept. 27, country superstar Tim McGraw will perform at the downtown park, which will be transformed into a concert venue with room for more than 20,000 fans.
The Y-Live concert is the biggest entertainment of the year in the Mahoning Valley. Launched by JAC Live in 2017.
This will be the first year that there will be two concerts, a move that allows JAC and the city to get more use out of the concert infrastructure that will be put in place.
JAC Live is expecting great demand for the Mayer concert.
“John Mayer hasn’t toured since his 2023 acoustic tour, which sold out every major NBA/NHL arena in the country,” said Ken Bigley, chief operating officer of JAC Live and JAC Management. “Since then, he has had his choice to headline the biggest festivals in the world.”
In addition to his solo career, Mayer is also a member of Dead & Company, the successor to the Grateful Dead, which is also touring this year.
“Aside from the Dead & Company dates, Mayer is only playing a handful of dates this year,” Bigley continued. “To have Youngstown be one of those dates is beyond incredible.”
Mayer will play two other shows the weekend of his Y-Live appearance. On Sept. 27, he will play University of Michigan Stadium with Zach Bryan, and on Sept. 28, he will headline the Pilgrimage Festival in Nashville, Tenn.
“The concert at the Big House (as 107,601-seat Michigan Stadium is nicknamed) is the largest ticketed event in history,” Bigley continued. The Pilgrimage Festival in Youngstown typically draws at least 25,000 each day.
“To bring Mayer to Youngstown and have us mentioned [as part of that lineup of massive weekend concerts] is one of the reasons we started Y-Live,” Bigley said.
The expansion of Y-Live to two days, along with the fact that Mayer is not playing any other shows in Ohio or Pennsylvania this year, means music fans from across both states and beyond will be traveling to Youngstown that weekend.
Y-Live weekend will bring big business to Mahoning Valley hotels as well as restaurants, bars and other businesses, Bigley noted. “It will have a massive economic impact on the region,” he said.
Tickets for Mayer will start at $65 (additional fees apply) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. July 11 at ticketmaster.com only.
A two-day discounted ticket package, that will include tickets for both concerts will also become available that day, starting at $105 (additional fees apply).
Go to the JAC Live and Y Live social media pages for information on the ticket presale.

ABOUT JOHN MAYER
The Grammy Award-winning Mayer is a celebrated songwriter, and an iconic guitarist.
The Connecticut native rose to fame after his quintuple-platinum 2001 album “Room For Squares.”
He followed it with three more albums that also debuted in the top spot on the Billboard chart: the triple-platinum “Heavier Things” (2003); the double-platinum “Battle Studies” (2009); and the gold “Born and Raised” (2012).
Mayer has garnered seven Grammy Awards, including “Song of the Year” for “Daughters” in 2005. He has earned a record seven U.S. No. 1’s on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and 25 entries on the Hot Rock Songs chart, the most for any solo artist.
Mayer is also a member of Grateful Dead successor band Dead & Company. That band was formed in 2015 by former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, with Mayer on lead guitar as well as vocals.
Dead & Company quickly became one of the world’s most successful touring acts, completing a 50-show residency at Sphere in Las Vegas that drew over 800,000 attendees, and then going on 10 U.S. tours, playing to almost five million fans across 300 shows.
In 2021, Mayer released his eighth studio album, “Sob Rock,” which spawned the hits “Last Train Home” and “Wild Blue.”
In November 2023, “Life With John Mayer,” a SiriusXM channel curated by Mayer, was launched.
Mayer’s earlier hits include “You’re Body Is a Wonderland” (2001) and “Waiting on the World to Change” (2006).
