YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – It’s not often that an area businessperson is recognized on a statewide basis.

Being recognized on a national basis is even more rare.

Mark Lamoncha, president and CEO of Humtown Products, which has facilities in Columbiana and Boardman, was named 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year at the small business summit held May 4 at the White House as part of this year’s commemoration of Small Business Week.

Lamoncha, who had been named SBA Ohio Small Business Person of the Year in April, was chosen for the national recognition from among 53 winners across all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Ohio SBA also recognized Mr. PC, an information technology company based in Warren, as the state’s Rural Small Business of the Year.

Small Business Week serves as “our Super Bowl of recognition for all our small businesses,” Terry Bolden, SBA district director for Ohio, says.

At the White House ceremony, Lamoncha expressed his appreciation for “the opportunity and the privilege to represent the 36 million small business people” and “to be an ambassador for the largest part of our economy,” as well as for his team at Humtown.

The family-owned Humtown, which started as a small pattern shop in 1959, was in dire financial straits when Lamoncha led a turnaround utilizing a patented system that boosted productivity by more than 400%. He subsequently transformed Humtown into a pioneer in 3D printing, and it is now North America’s leading producer of 3D-printed sand cores and molds.

“It’s amazing what he’s done,” President Donald J. Trump said at the ceremony.

“Today, 98% of U.S. manufacturers are small businesses,” United States Administrator of the SBA Kelly Loeffler said. “They’re a critical part of securing our supply chains, and while they contribute to national strength across all kinds of industries, from energy to agriculture to defense and aerospace, America’s big manufacturers rely on these producers and their skilled workers.”

Lamoncha and Humtown demonstrate to the nation the hard work and innovation that takes place in companies throughout our region, including at his fellow Ohio honoree, Mr. PC.

Well done.
