SALEM, Ohio – Kast Iron Soda Works will unveil its new patio behind the shop Thursday, May 22, with a grand opening celebration from 5-7 p.m.
The event will also mark the fourth anniversary of the soda shop at 420 E. State St., downtown.
The celebration will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, followed by a community open house. The event will include live music and food from BB Rooners.
To commemorate the day, Kast Iron will begin offering its two newest bottled sodas: Kast Iron Orange Cream and Kast Iron Vanilla Cola, joining its signature Kast Iron Root Beer. These flavors are available not only at the soda fountain but are also distributed to a growing number of retail partners across the region, according to a news release from the shop.
The back patio at Kast Iron got a boost from a Backing Small Business grant from Main Street America, funded by American Express. Kast Iron was one of just 500 businesses nationwide selected for the award last summer, which was designed to improve its front and rear entrances.
Building on that momentum, owners Lesley and Wil Kline chose to extend the project by transforming their outdoor space into a patio for guests.
“This patio is the perfect addition to our space,” Lesley said. “We built it with the intention of creating yet another space where people can slow down, spend time together and enjoy the little moments that matter.”
The patio was constructed by Black Dog Contracting.
