CANFIELD, Ohio – The concert by country music band Lady A at this year’s Canfield Fair has been canceled, according to a post on the fair’s Facebook page.
Refunds will be available at the point of purchase. Tickets purchased through the Ticketmaster.com site will automatically be refunded.
The performance was scheduled for Aug. 31 at the grandstand and was one of the two major concerts the fair presents every year. The fair is now looking for a replacement act for that date.
The cancellation came this week from Lady A’s manager, leaving the fair board stunned.
“We’re in total shock,” said George Roman, a fair board member and the entertainment director. “Lady A’s management team made the decision, saying it was in the best interest of the artist.”
The fair board is working with Youngstown-based promoter JAC Live to find another artist and will make an announcement when that happens.
“We’re putting our oars in the water and looking for a replacement,” Roman said.
The board has yet to announce the second concert for this year’s fair, which will take place Aug. 27-Sept. 1.
While it is not unusual for concerts to be canceled, Roman acknowledged that it has not happened at the Canfield Fair, at least in recent memory.
