POLAND, Ohio – The Lake Club will host a celebrity golf scramble event Aug. 30-31, featuring more than 50 alumni athletes and celebrities from The Ohio State University and the University of Michigan.

The Big Game Rivalry Shootout will raise money for Beyond the Goal Line and The Football Alumni of Michigan, two charities that provide financial and other support to alumni football players in times of need.

Gus Johnson, a Fox Sports play-by-play announcer, and Jon Gruden, a former NFL coach and broadcaster, will be among the celebrities on hand all weekend engaging with those participating in the event.

Two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin will lead Team Scarlet & Gray. He’ll be joined by more than a dozen Buckeye icons. Former NFL wide receivers Amani Toomer and Mario Manningham will lead Team Maize & Blue’s roster of Wolverine legends.

Among the alumni scheduled to appear are Keith Byars, Mike Doss, Ted Ginn Jr., Troy Smith, Robert Smith, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, Maurice Clarett, Tom Cousineau, Jim Lachey, Mike Tomczak, Katie Smith and others from Ohio State; and Brian Griese, Anthony Carter, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Chris Wormley, Jarrett Irons, Chase Winovich, Butch Woolfolk, Tim McCormick, Carol Hutchins, Dwight Hicks, Brandon Graham and others from Michigan.

Additional participants and special guests are being added to both rosters and will be posted at TheBigGameShootout.com.

Ed Muransky, owner of The Lake Club and a University of Michigan alum, is serving as the event chairman. He has tapped Jeff Ryznar and 898 Marketing to partner with him on the event.

“This is a chance to bring together two of the most passionate fan bases in college sports for something that matters more than the score,” Muransky said. “We’re grateful to have athletes like Jon, Archie, Amani, Mario and many others involved, and we’re looking forward to a competitive, memorable event that celebrates and helps take care of the players who built this rivalry.”

The tournament will be played in a two-team scramble format, with 15 foursomes each supporting Ohio State and Michigan and every foursome paired with one of the event’s celebrity participants. Foursome registration and sponsorship information are available at TheBigGameShootout.com.
