YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Lake to River Economic Development shared updates on its first year as the region’s lead economic development organization.
Alexa Sweeney Blackann, interim CEO, and Sarah Boyarko, vice president of economic development, outlined the agency’s continued focus on site development, business growth and workforce development in partnership with JobsOhio and local stakeholders.
So far in 2025, four projects have closed, representing $811 million in investment and the creation of 579 new jobs over three years. Notably, Kimberly-Clark accounted for $800 million of that figure. Additional projects across the four-county region are expected to be announced by year’s end.
Workforce efforts continue to expand, and Matt Falter, director of talent engagement, highlighted the organization’s participation in the Find Your Ohio talent attraction initiative and announced a regional talent summit scheduled for Sept. 25 at the Eastwood Event Centre.
