YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Nine local women have been selected for the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown’s 2026 Women’s Hall of Fame.

Honorees were selected for their significant contributions in empowering voters, strengthening democracy or building community in one or more of the following categories: 

  •   Encouraging informed and active participation in civic life.
  •   Protection of voter rights.
  •   Addressing structural problems in democracy. 
  •   Nonpartisan voter education. 
  •   Increasing understanding of public policy issues.
  •   Creating opportunities so all can achieve their potential.
  •   Ensuring community safety.
  •   Promoting community health.

The honorees will be inducted during a ceremony at 5 p.m. March 19 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane. Tickets for the event are $50 or $350 for a table of eight and can be purchased HERE.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Marie Dockry, governing board member for the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio and the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center.
  • Amanda Fehlbaum, associate professor of sociology and director of women and gender studies at Youngstown State University.
  • Julie M. Green, director of the Trumbull County Planning Commission.
  • Lisa Lee Kohler, community leader, volunteer and president of the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown.
  • Jessica Lev, associate general counsel for Phantom Fireworks.
  • Sarah Lown, director of public finance for the Western Reserve Port Authority.
  • Brandi Shamara Parker, assistant director, outreach, at Axess Family Services.
  • Cheryl Saffold, president of Community Concerned Citizens II.
  • Jorine Stone, community leader and past president of the American Association of University Women, Youngstown Chapter.
