YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – One of Youngstown’s all-time favorite rock bands is making its final ride.

Left End will reassemble in the city Oct. 10 for a concert at Powers Auditorium.

The concert, dubbed “The Final Ride,” will put an exclamation point on a career that started in 1971. 

Tickets start at $29.50, plus applicable fees, and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, through Ticketmaster and the DeYor Performing Arts Center Box Office, downtown.

Youngstown’s rock scene hit its high-water mark during the 1970s and 1980s, and Left End was on top of the heap at that time.

The band played countless shows in the region, got heavy airplay and also flirted with national fame. It shared the stage with several artists who would go on to greatness, including The Eagles and John Mellencamp, and opened for artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, J. Geils Band, Rush, Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent.

Left End’s hits include “Sunshine Girl,” “Bad Talkin’ Lady” and “Cyclone Rider.” The band’s breakout album was “Spoiled Rotten” (1973).

Left End played reunion shows at Packard Music Hall in 2023 and the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre in 2024.

The band’s lineup is original members Patsy Palombo, Ray Guerrieri, Tom Figinski and Jim Puhalla, plus guitarist Dave Lemasters and singer Michael Lawrence. Leanne Binder will be the backup vocalist.

The concert will feature two 45-minute sets, with an intermission. It will be mostly original Left End hits, with three or four covers that the band used to perform in its heyday, said Ray Timlin, who is promoting the show with JAC Live.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and an edited and lengthened version of the band’s 2024 film “When Idora Rocked” will be screened in the lobby starting at about 7 p.m., Timlin said.

The documentary looks into the 1970s “Spring Thing” concert series that drew thousands to the former amusement park in Youngstown. The makers added interviews and made other improvements to the film, increasing its running time to 56 minutes.

Timlin said Western Reserve PBS is looking into airing the film this fall.
