YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Legacy Tire & Auto Repair will host a Legacy Mahoning Avenue Cleanup on Sept. 19 in support of World Cleanup Day 2026.
The event is an opportunity for residents, businesses, students, families and community organizations to join together while cleaning designated sections of the Mahoning Avenue corridor.
“Mahoning Avenue is more than where our business is located. It is part of our family’s history and the community we are proud to serve,” said Brian Rogenski, Legacy shop manager. “The Legacy Mahoning Avenue Cleanup is an opportunity for local businesses, residents, students and organizations to come together and make a visible difference. When people take pride in where they live and work, that pride becomes contagious.”
The local, family-owned Legacy Tire & Auto Repair’s roots at 2408 Mahoning Ave. date back to 1978, and the business believes supporting the community means more than providing dependable automotive service. It also means investing time, energy and resources into the neighborhoods and corridors that support local jobs, families and long-term economic growth.
“Small actions can create real momentum,” Rogenski said. “Picking up trash for a few hours may seem simple, but when people see businesses and neighbors showing up together, it sends a message that this corridor matters and that the community is worth investing in.”
Legacy and other participating partners will provide cleanup supplies, volunteer assignments, safety information, water and light refreshments. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Volunteer hour confirmation is available upon request.
Advanced registration is requested for all volunteers, though walk-ups are welcome.
Every eligible registered participant who checks in and volunteers will be entered into a drawing for a $150 Legacy Tire & Auto Repair gift certificate.
Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Legacy. The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. The rain date will be Sept. 26.
