YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – When reflecting on 2024 at Lencyk Masonry Co., which was founded in 1984 with two employees and now employs as many as 150, two words come to mind: foundational and successful.

Foundational because progress was made to have the masonry trade presented in local construction technology classes along with establishing our own apprenticeship program.

Success stems from wrapping up a multitude of projects with quality and integrity while remaining profitable.

This year brings more school projects, including Crestview PK-12, Brunswick Board of Education and maintenance buildings, Green primary school, Mason elementary, and expansion of the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center.

Health care projects awarded to Lencyk include the Lifepoint Behavioral Health Hospital, Southwoods north addition and Summit ADM Residential Step Down Facility.

Other projects are the First Energy-Youngstown project and Cleveland Steel RL in Warren.

We plan to maintain a high volume of sales despite the workforce challenges by continuing to invest in and train the workforce.

Lencyk Masonry participated in the Haitian Refugee Assistance through our in-house training program. We established our own pre-apprenticeship program, which included participants from the Haitian program and others.

Lencyk Masonry became a member of the Business Advisory Council for the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio.

This led to teaming with schools through job fairs and encouraging youths to consider the trade.

And we are part of the team awarded funds through the Concrete Masonry Checkoff program to introduce masonry instruction in local schools.

This year, Lencyk will participate in the housing initiative at Dylan’s House in Canfield. The purpose is to provide homes for people on the autism spectrum as they transition to independent or supported living.
