YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Deborah Liptak, the first development director for the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, is retiring after more than two decades in the role.

Liptak, who began at PLYMC in 2002 after chairing a successful library levy campaign, helped reimagine the library’s public image, launched the I Love My Library initiative, reorganized Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County groups and developed fundraising programs including the Literary Society and Ladies in Little Black Dresses for Literacy.

She also oversaw capital campaigns for multiple branch renovations and expansions and worked to strengthen community and business partnerships. Liptak says she will remain active in local philanthropy after her retirement.
