YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A rental app ranked the Youngstown metro area sixth in Ohio and 78th in the nation for livability.
RentCafe.com released a report this week that considers socioeconomics, quality of life and location and community as key factors. It considers cost of living, income growth rate, unemployment, the number of health care providers and commute time among the 17 metrics used in the rankings.
“The Midwest dominates all regions when it comes to overall livability, with six metro areas ranking in the top 20,” the report says.
The other Ohio metropolitan areas and their state and national rankings:
“Ranked #1 for quality of life; location and community; and overall livability, Washington, D.C.’s focus on wellness and ongoing revitalization efforts helped it climb from seventh place last year to the top spot,” the report says.
Portland, Maine; Kansas City, Mo.; Des Moines, Iowa; and Ann Arbor, Mich., round out the top five.
Harrisburg, Pa., at No. 9, is the list’s highest ranking Pennsylvania metro area. Pittsburgh ranked 14th.
