MERCER, Pa. – The Lawrence Mercer Manufacturers Coalition reviewed its progress and outlined workforce initiatives Tuesday at its fall membership meeting at the Mercer County Career Center.

Formed two years ago by regional manufacturers, the coalition is focused on raising awareness of career opportunities in manufacturing and preparing individuals through programs such as a proposed four-week preapprenticeship at Butler County Community College’s Lawrence County campus.

Leaders said the effort aims to counter outdated perceptions of the industry and address challenges in recruiting the next generation of workers.
