YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Longtime Youngstown State University supporter Roberta Hannay has donated $100,000 to the Kilcawley: Centered on the Future Campaign.
In recognition of her contribution, the new community kitchen/maker space within Kilcawley Center will be named in her honor.
This latest gift adds to Hannay’s legacy of philanthropy at YSU, bringing her total contributions to over $1.8 million. Her giving began in 1994 with her support for the New Beginning for Academics, known today as the Academic Achievers Program – an initiative designed to uplift and empower students through access to enhanced academic support and mentorship.
“We are deeply thankful to Roberta Hannay for her continued dedication to Youngstown State University and our students,” said Bill Johnson, YSU president. “Her investment in Kilcawley Center will help foster creativity, collaboration and community through a vibrant new space designed to bring students together in meaningful ways.”
A descendant of the Wick, Clegg, Marsteller and Pollock families, Hannay’s family tradition of giving dates back generations. Her grandparents, Porter and Mary Pollock, gifted the historic Pollock House to YSU in 1949.
“Bobbie’s philanthropy has touched every corner of our campus, and her impact on student success cannot be overstated,” said Scott Schulick, chairman of the Kilcawley: Centered on the Future Campaign.
Beyond her support for YSU, Hannay is an active philanthropist across the region, supporting organizations such as the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past and Youngstown Cityscape, among many others.
