BOARDMAN, Ohio – The former Loves Furniture & Mattresses building at 300 Boardman-Poland Road has sold for $2.65 million, preparing the way for another furniture retailer to set up shop there.
Ferguson’s Boardman Venture LLC acquired the building from 300 Boardman Poland Road LLC Feb. 13, according to data filed with the Mahoning County Auditor’s office.
The site will be the third location for Ferguson’s House of Furniture, based in Wintersville, Ohio, near Steubenville. Aside from its Wintersville showroom, Ferguson’s also operates a store in St. Clairsville.
The family-owned Ohio company announced on its Facebook page in December that it would be adding the 55,000-square-foot Boardman location. According to social media posts, the new retailer should be opened by late spring.
According to auditor records, the building was constructed in 2003 to accommodate Goldstein’s Furniture. After Goldstein’s went out of business in 2017, Levin Furniture moved into the location the following year. Love’s Furniture acquired the former Levin stores in 2020 but then filed for bankruptcy in 2021, subsequently closing its Mahoning Valley locations.
