BOARDMAN, Ohio – The YMCA of Youngstown recently announced the promotion of Tamra Lucas to executive director of the Davis Family YMCA, effective Aug. 10.
After more than 21 years of serving the YMCA of Youngstown in a variety of leadership roles, Lucas will now lead one of the association’s largest branches.
Lucas, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business and behavioral science from Liberty University, joined the YMCA in 2005 as a part-time group exercise instructor. Over the past two decades, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including member engagement coordinator, membership director and senior member services director. She has led membership operations at both the Davis Family YMCA and Central YMCA, while also overseeing arts and humanities programming, member experience initiatives and facility support services.
“Tamra’s promotion reflects years of outstanding leadership, dedication and service to our members and our community,” said Beth Scheller, chief executive officer of the YMCA of Youngstown. “She has earned the trust and respect of colleagues across our association through her servant leadership, commitment to developing others and ability to build meaningful relationships. We are excited to see the Davis Family YMCA continue to thrive under her leadership.”
As executive director, Lucas will provide leadership for all branch operations, staff development, community engagement, member experience and financial sustainability while advancing the YMCA of Youngstown’s mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who has invested in my YMCA journey over the past 21 years,” Lucas said. “My goal has always been simple: to create an atmosphere where people feel seen, valued and empowered to succeed.
