YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mahoning County Juvenile Court will provide free backpacks to local students preparing for the upcoming school year.
The drive-thru giveaway will take place from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 21 in the Mahoning Valley Community School parking lot, 2026 South Ave.
The event is open to Mahoning County students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Backpacks will be distributed while supplies last.
Students also will receive a voucher for a free meal or appetizer from one of four participating restaurants: Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse and LongHorn Steakhouse.
“Mahoning County Juvenile Court is committed to supporting children and families in our community, not only when they come through our courtroom doors, but throughout the year,” said Gina DeGenova, court administrator/magistrate. “We are incredibly grateful to Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse and LongHorn Steakhouse for joining us in this effort. Their generosity allows us to provide families with an additional resource while showing our children that their community cares about their success.”
Restaurant offers may be subject to individual restaurant terms and availability.
The backpack giveaway is part of the Mahoning County Juvenile Court’s ongoing commitment to community outreach, prevention and strengthening partnerships that support the well-being and success of local children and families.
