CANFIELD, Ohio – In this excerpt from The Business Journal Roundtable Series featuring Mahoning River revitalization, Struthers Mayor Catherine Cercone Miller highlights growing recreational use along the Mahoning River, citing increased kayak activity, riverbank fishing and strong weekend visitation.

Local businesses such as Bare Feet Kayak offer guided trips, while future development efforts are focused on a 28-acre site near Bob Cene Park.

Sarah Lown of Eastgate Regional Council of Governments noted the environmental value of the river’s riparian corridor and outlined ongoing access planning efforts, particularly in Warren and Lowellville. Long-term goals include expanded recreational access, mixed-use development and regional trail connections.
