HUBBARD, Ohio – DeSalvo Construction is set for a milestone year in 2025, with several major projects underway across Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company recently broke ground on an expansion of its headquarters in Hubbard and will be involved in multiple high-profile developments in the coming months.
One of the most significant projects is the NEOMED College of Dentistry renovation, says Joe DeSalvo, president of DeSalvo Construction Co.
The $25 million project is expected to be completed by June, in time for the inaugural class of dental students that fall. It will include a simulation lab, a wet lab for research, and clinical spaces for public dental care.
Another impactful initiative is Akron Children’s Pediatrics at Warren Wellness, DeSalvo says. The construction company is building a 6,300-square-foot pediatric center at the Warren G. Harding High School Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Featuring 12 treatment rooms, it’s expected to open by August.
DeSalvo is also leading the expansion of Trumbull County Technical Center. There, a 13,600-square-foot addition is being built to enhance STEAM instruction (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). It will also provide additional space for mental health services and industrial workforce training.
Other key projects for 2025 include:
• Akron Children’s Hospital – Belpre Medical Office Building (Belpre).
• Shepherd of the Valley – New senior campus (Salem).
• Mercy St. Elizabeth Youngstown – Neuro ICU and Floor Imaging Suite (Youngstown).
• Junior Achievement BizTown – Eastwood Mall Complex (Niles).
• Control Transformer – New addition and site development (Cortland).
• ARC – Animal Resource Center renovations (Cortland).
• Howland SCOPE Center.
DeSalvo attributes much of his company’s success to long-standing relationships with construction partners.
“We are grateful for the trust our clients place in us to deliver quality projects that support their growth and community impact,” he says.
Recent collaborations include:
• Farmers Bank headquarters addition and renovations (Canfield).
• Warren G. Harding Wellness Center (Warren).
• B&I Main Office Renovations (Canfield).
DeSalvo Construction is deeply committed to philanthropy, DeSalvo says.
The company actively supports organizations such as Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley, Shepherd of the Valley Foundation, and various arts organizations, including Stambaugh Auditorium, DeYor Performing Arts Center and the Youngstown Playhouse.
DeSalvo’s 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign with Cadence Care Network exceeded its $50,000 goal to support mental health services for children in the Mahoning Valley.
The company was established in 1984 by Joy and Joseph A. DeSalvo. It moved to its current headquarters in 1990, expanded its warehouse in 2000, and added office space in 2008. Another 4,000-square-foot expansion is under construction.
“Our commitment to continuous improvement and investing in our team ensures we can meet the evolving needs of our clients and communities,” says DeSalvo.
