WARREN, Ohio – A maker studio with tools that encourage creativity and entrepreneurship opened in the Warren Library in early 2024. It was partially funded by a $25,000 grant from the Bland family through Trumbull 100 to Warren-Trumbull County Public Library system, according to James Wilkins, executive director.

The maker studio features a 3D printer, sewing and embroidery machine, Cricut machine and button maker, along with a recording booth for patrons to create and collaborate on a variety of projects. Workshops and one-on-one instruction from library staff are offered to help patrons learn how to use the equipment.

The W-TCPL partners with many local organizations to present special events throughout the year, such as a Trumbull County Kindergarten Transition Fair, the annual Family Book Day and the Candy Land Lane event during Warren’s Hometown Holidays.

The library system’s other 2024 accomplishments include:

  • A new online library catalog and implementation of an extra layer of security for cardholder accounts.
  • A new online event calendar and room booking platform.
