SALEM, Ohio – A Marketing Meetup for Artists & Small Business Creatives event Thursday will help small businesses learn to promote themselves better.

The event will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, 210 E. State St., and though the effort is targeting artists and creatives, all small business owners are welcome. No registration is required.

Kristina Danklef, the founder and lead creator at Sourballpython Studios, said the discussion at the free event will focus on how to create a website for less than $40 a year.

“It’s possible, and we’re going to go through the steps of doing that,” Danklef said.

There will also be tips on how to improve an existing website.

“If you’re not tracking, you don’t know how it is working for you. You’re just throwing things out into the wind without really seeing what kinds of returns you are getting, either monetary or click followers,” Danklef said.

Danklef said those marketing their business need to consider collecting and analyzing their data.

This will be the second recent Marketing Meetup event, with more in the planning stages. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the events had grown quite large and included people from Youngstown and Cleveland, according to Danklef.

Each month the events consist of a guest speaker and discussions on various topics.
