CANFIELD, Ohio – The Mahoning County Career & Technical Center recently selected new board leadership and named a new board member.

Jeffery Good will serve as board president, and Michael Stanko will serve as vice president for 2026. The board also chose Alexa Sweeney Blackann as a new member, and she will be sworn in at a future meeting.

Good most recently served as interim president and CEO of PBS Western Reserve, where he led Ohio’s largest PBS station, overseeing operations, strategic planning and community engagement. Throughout his career, Good has supported educational technology initiatives, workforce development efforts and statewide learning programs, while managing multimillion-dollar budgets and securing significant grant funding. He has a long history of service on education and nonprofit boards and is committed to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening community partnerships.

Stanko is a member of one of the first graduating classes of the Mahoning County Joint Vocational School’s Aviation Mechanics program in 1974. In 1977, he founded Gemco Aviation Services Inc. and is the owner and operator of the Youngstown Elser Metro Airport in North Lima. Stanko also serves on the board of directors and as a technical adviser for the Beechcraft Heritage Museum in Tullahoma, Tenn., and is a published author on the maintenance and restoration of the Beechcraft Staggerwing aircraft.

Sweeney Blackann, a business and community leader, previously served as interim CEO of Lake to River Economic Development, a JobsOhio regional partner serving Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, where she guided the organization through its launch as a stand-alone region. 

She previously served as president of Sweeney Chevrolet and Sweeney Buick GMC in Youngstown. Under her leadership, the dealerships earned General Motors Mark of Excellence awards and were recognized for customer service excellence and community philanthropy. She continues to support the dealerships in a consulting role following their sale in 2023 and remains involved in the regional business and nonprofit community.
