CANFIELD, Ohio – The Mahoning County Career & Technical Center announced a partnership project involving the Gervelis Law Firm, Quaker Steak & Lube in Austintown and Home Depot that provided building and construction students with a real-world learning experience.
Building and construction seniors, under the direction of their instructor, Ryan Benchwick, designed and built a 16-foot-by-32-foot outdoor concert stage that will be used throughout the summer for community events, live music and veteran-focused events at Quaker Steak & Lube.
Home Depot in Austintown donated all of the building materials for the project, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in construction, teamwork, planning and project execution while working on a structure that will serve the community.
The completed stage will be delivered to Quaker Steak & Lube at 11 a.m. Monday. Students will be on-site for the delivery, and Quaker Steak & Lube will provide lunch for the students to thank them for their hard work and craftsmanship on the project.
