CANFIELD, Ohio – The Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio and the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center have announced that attorney Kathi McNabb Welsh has retired from their governing boards.

After 21 years of service to both organizations, McNabb Welsh is stepping down to assume the role of Mahoning County assistant prosecutor, head of the civil division.

“Kathi is an incredible board member,” said Traci Hostetler, superintendent of the ESC of Eastern Ohio. “She has been unwavering in her support and consistently ensures that my team and I are providing our districts with the highest quality of services.”

McNabb Welsh, who graduated from Bowling Green State University and the University of Akron College of Law, serves as the Mahoning County chief deputy clerk of courts and has been an assistant prosecutor, working for both the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office and the city of Akron.

“Kathi has been an invaluable resource to the MCCTC,” Superintendent John Zehentbauer said. “She has been a mentor and friend to myself and many other administrators throughout her service. Kathi will be missed by all of us.”

In addition to her service on the ESCEO and MCCTC governing boards, McNabb Welsh has served as a trustee for Eastern Gateway Community College and currently sits on the Boardman Civic Association board.

McNabb Welsh was the first woman elected president of the Mahoning County Bar Association and received the association’s 2021 Professionalism Award for her three decades of contributions to the legal community.
