YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Tim McNeil was recently hired as the new coordinator of athletics for the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown. His first day was July 8.
“I am thrilled to be working with the coaches and administrators of all our schools in the Diocese of Youngstown to unify all the great athletic opportunities our student-athletes currently have,” McNeil said. “Where those opportunities are lacking, this office will provide a pathway.”
McNeil spent the previous two decades as coach of the Westminster College men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs. He led the Titans to 16 Presidents’ Athletic Conference championships.
McNeil is a 1996 graduate of Westminster, where he excelled in track and field as well as football. In 2004 he earned a master’s degree in education from Westminster and is also a member of the Titan Sports Hall of Fame.
McNeil is a native of Mineral Ridge and a 1992 graduate of Warren John F. Kennedy Catholic School. He spent six years as the Eagles’ boys and girls track and field coach, and during that time he was also assistant principal.
“I am very excited to have Tim join our staff here in the Office of Catholic Schools,” Superintendent Steven Jones said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in building excellent athletic programs, and his commitment to ensuring that our student-athletes have the best experience possible is going to enhance the overall education our students receive.”
