GROVE CITY, Pa. – Rod Wilt, executive director of Penn-Northwest Development Corp., highlighted the impact of the fourth annual Mercer County Economic Summit, which brought together leaders in manufacturing, education and economic development to showcase growth across the region.

Wilt said the summit aims to spotlight ongoing innovation and opportunity in Mercer County, emphasizing that local industries continue to expand while workforce development and education programs support future growth.

He noted that manufacturing remains a key driver of the local economy, with companies contributing to advanced projects – including components used in space missions – while also adopting new technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced production methods.

Wilt also pointed to the highly anticipated development at Exit 15 along Interstate 80, where a potential large-scale project could bring up to 1 million square feet of development to a 200-acre site, representing a significant economic opportunity for the region.

In addition to major projects, Wilt emphasized the importance of steady growth among smaller companies across the county, noting that ongoing expansions and hiring continue to strengthen Mercer County’s economic foundation.
