HERMITAGE, Pa. – Local Share Account grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority for projects in Mercer County.

The city of Hermitage will receive $325,000 for the Wheatland Neighborhood Public Works Investment Project, which will renovate the municipal maintenance garage, repair the structure and driveway, add space for a Vactor truck, replace deteriorated building components and improve restroom accessibility.

Penn-Northwest Development Corp. will receive $300,000 for the Baughman Family Community Center to replace its aging boiler system, including hazardous-material abatement, demolition, plumbing, new boilers and pumps, electrical work and controls. The center at 71 Columbia Ave., Greenville, provides childcare, recreation and wellness programming to about 1,800 members.

“These grants will help local organizations move necessary projects forward without putting the full cost on local taxpayers,” state Rep. Parke Wentling, R-7th, said in announcing the grants.

Local Share Account funds are generated under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in the public interest across Pennsylvania. The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency to administer Pennsylvania economic development programs and investments.
