MERCER, Pa. – In a small workshop along Mercer West Middlesex Road, craftsman Brett Schroyer shapes Victorian-style rocking horses by hand, starting each one with the ears.
Schroyer, owner of Greenfield Woodworks, has spent about 25 years carving and assembling the wooden horses, each made from roughly 30 pieces. His interest began after studying carousel horse construction, which shares similarities with the old-world rocking horses he now builds.
