SHARON, Pa. – The National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct its national Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, and the Mercer County Food Bank is asking residents to participate.
Residents are asked to leave a donation of nonperishable food items next to their mailbox Saturday. The donations will be picked up by letter carriers as they deliver the mail along their postal routes.
The food collected through the Sharon, Hermitage and Mercer post offices will directly benefit the Mercer County Food Bank and local residents.
“We are grateful to the NALC for their commitment to feeding our neighbors and appreciate being part of the food drive locally,” said Rebecca Page, executive director of the Mercer County Food Bank. “Last year, the food drive collected 6,733 [donations], which enabled [the food bank] to provide 6,610 meals to neighbors facing hunger.”
