Sharon, Pa. – Mercer County Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry program is expanding its hours of operation by hosting a pop-up food distribution from 4-6 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Sharon City Center, 110 S. Water St.

The distribution is designed to provide additional access to food for those in need who can’t get to a food pantry or program during traditional hours of operation.

The Mobile Pantry program provides access to food to low-income families and residents who live in rural and underserved areas of Mercer County. The program operates weekly throughout the county, with three set locations and a pop-up the last week of each month.

The locations are:

  • Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month.
  • St. John’s Lutheran Church, Greenville, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.
  • Reynold Drive-In, noon to 2 p.m. on the third Friday of the month.

“We serve thousands of neighbors through the Mobile Pantry program,” said Rebecca Page, executive director of Mercer County Food Bank. “We are testing later distribution hours, as we’ve received feedback from many neighbors who are in need of food but unable to make it to our regularly scheduled distributions due to work and other conflicts. We have nearly 16,000 neighbors who are food insecure throughout the county, and it is a priority for MCFB to create access to food for all those in need.”
