SHARON, Pa. – Mercer County Food Bank recently announced the new locations for its Mobile Pantry food distribution program.
The program is a method of food distribution by the food bank to bring food resources directly into communities, particularly underresourced areas throughout Mercer County. Unlike traditional food pantries, the program operates by loading food bank vehicles with nutritious food and staging organized, drive-through distributions.
Each distribution provides a variety of essential food items, including shelf-stable goods, protein, fresh produce and dairy products.
The Mobile Pantry will operate at the following locations and times each month, beginning in February:
- Sharon Baptist Church, 1531 George St., Hermitage, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (while supplies last), first Thursday of the month.
- St. John’s Lutheran Church, 10 Beil Hill Road, Greenville, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (while supplies last), second Thursday of the month.
- Reynolds Elementary School, 1609 Brentwood Drive, Greenville, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (while supplies last), third Saturday of the month.
“In 2021, the initial goal of the Mobile Pantry program was to provide access to nutritious food in underserved and rural areas of the county,” said Rebecca Page, executive director of Mercer County Food Bank. “Now that we have a strong network of nearly 70 member agencies, the focus of Mobile Pantry is shifting to serve areas of high need and low food access, as identified through our service area assessment.”
