SHARON, Pa. – Mercer County Food Bank is inviting the community to help Stuff the Truck to help feed those in need in the county.

The food bank’s truck will be parked at D’Onofrio’s Food Center, 1749 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The food bank will accept all nonperishable food items (no glass packaging) during the event. The most needed food items include canned proteins, vegetables, fruits, peanut butter, cereal and pasta.

“The food bank is thrilled to be welcomed back to D’Onofrio’s Food Center, said Rebecca Page, executive director of Mercer County Food Bank. “All donations will remain in Mercer County to supplement the food bank’s effort during these uncertain times.”

According to a news release from the food bank, 15,970 people, including 4,600 children, in Mercer County are considered food insecure, meaning they don’t always know where their next meal will come from.
