CHAMPION, Ohio – Mercy Health leaders and project partners gathered for the groundbreaking of the Mercy Health Champion Emergency Center, a freestanding facility that will include an emergency room, imaging center and laboratory.

The project, first conceived in 2016, is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.

Officials emphasized the center’s proximity to residents in Trumbull County and Champion Township, its role in expanding local health care access and its place within several ongoing Mercy Health construction projects in the Mahoning Valley.

Massaro Corp., the general contractor, will work with about 30 subcontractors — many of them local — to complete the complex build.
