YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Two Mercy Health hospitals in the Mahoning Valley have earned Primary Stroke Centers certifications.
Mercy Health announced Wednesday that both St. Elizabeth Boardman and St. Joseph Warren hospitals have achieved the certification, signaling greater access to advanced stroke care for local patients.
By being able to deliver specialized services at both hospitals, patients can receive rapid evaluation and treatment while dealing with a stroke, a news release states.
“Stroke treatment is extremely time-sensitive, and having certified care available close to home can make a meaningful difference for patients and families,” said Charlotte Gardiner, president of St. Joseph Warren Hospital. “This recognition reflects the expertise, coordination and commitment of our teams to delivering timely, high-quality stroke care when every second counts.”
The Boardman and Warren hospitals’ Primary Stroke Center certification advances the stroke care already provided by St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, which was named a Thrombectomy – Capable Stroke Center in 2024.
