Mercy Health Names Harley President of St. E’s Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mercy Health has named Kathleen Harley as the president of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

A graduate of Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Harley holds a nursing degree from Penn State and an MBA from Youngstown State University.

“It’s great to be back home,” she said in a release announcing her appointment. “Serving my hometown in this capacity is not only an honor but a privilege. This community has given so much to me and now, I want to ensure the health and well-being of those who call the Valley home.”

She began her medical career as an operating room nurse and eventually moved into leadership roles, including time as an operating room manager and director of surgical services.

Most recently, she was chief nursing officer and vice president of surgical and procedural services at Heritage Valley Health System, which has sites in eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and the West Virginia panhandle.

“Kathleen’s immense clinical background and her passion for this community will influence the way families in our community access care at our main campus,” said Dr. John Luellen, Mercy Health-Youngstown CEO. “We remain focused on delivering high-quality, compassionate care as our foundresses developed more than a century ago.”
