Mercy Health Recognized for Empowering Women, Families
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Bon Secours Mercy Health has been recognized for its commitment to empowering the careers of women leaders and creating a place where employees love to work and clinicians love to practice.
Mercy Health, which has 48 hospitals – including ones in Youngstown, Boardman and Warren – as well as clinics throughout the area, employs 60,000 in five states.
Seramount, a strategic professional services and research firm dedicated to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, listed Mercy Health as one of the Top 10 Companies for Executive Women in 2023 and one of the 2023 100 Best Companies.

The list of top workplaces for women advancing through the corporate ranks celebrates companies that champion women’s achievements, with a focus on succession planning, profit-and-loss roles, gender-pay parity, support and flexibility programs. According to Seramount, 91% of those companies listed in this category hold managers accountable for hiring and advancing women; 37% of the board of directors members are women; 17% of the CEOs are women; 35% of the corporate executives are women; and women make up 47% of the top 20% of highest-paid employees.
The 100 Best Companies list recognizes companies that are supportive of working parents with inclusive benefits for families, including paid parental leave and increased mental health benefits for employees. According to Seramount, those companies listed in 2023 offered an average of 11 weeks of fully paid parental leave for full-time employees, while 81% offered phase-back programs after parental leave; 91% offered bereavement leave for miscarriages; 94% offered backup emergency childcare; 89% offer reimbursement for egg-freezing expenses; and 94% have policies supporting workplace mental health.
