YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Meridian HealthCare recently announced the appointment of Dr. Lewis Spirtos as chief medical officer.

A board-certified psychiatrist and addictionologist, Spirtos joins Meridian HealthCare with more than a decade of experience in clinical leadership and patient-centered care. Most recently serving as the medical director at Mercy Health in Youngstown, he developed and implemented multiple groundbreaking programs, which have significantly expanded access to treatment and improved outcomes for individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

While also introducing innovative treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and Spravato therapy, his leadership in outpatient services has led to the successful treatment of thousands of individuals throughout the Mahoning Valley and beyond.
