Meridian, Public Library Partner on ‘Now You Know’ Talks
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Meridian HealthCare and the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County will partner to present monthly talks focusing on family, health and lifestyle topics at various library branches.
Inspired by the TED Talks series, the 45-minute “Now You Know” talks will feature experts in their fields who can speak to prominent issues facing families and individuals.
The first talk iis scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Austintown Library. The topic will be “Hooked on Heroin: How it attracts so many young people.”
The speaker, Nikunj Patel, a counselor in the youth and young adult program at Meridian, will explain what attracts so many of today’s youth to heroin, the early warning signs and treatment options, and keys to prevention or successful recovery. A question-and-answer period will follow his presentation.
Future topics will include addiction, phone app,s social media, and mindfulness.
