YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Despite high inflation and supply chain disruptions, MS Consultants was able to secure funding from several sources for local projects.

The engineering, architectural and planning firm in 2024 was named the designer of record for the rehabilitation of 10 miles of Interstate 680 and the Mill Creek Park Interceptor project.

Both projects were planned and are now being designed by MS in collaboration with the cities of Lowellville, Struthers, Youngstown, Niles and Warren. Work on both projects, which are under the leadership of Eastgate Council of Regional Governments, will begin in 2026.

MS will continue to work with the Western Reserve Port Authority on infrastructure improvements at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

The launch of the Lake to River economic development region by JobsOhio last year was exciting for the firm, says Mark Buchenic, vice president of regional operations of eastern Ohio. This initiative, which comprises Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties, can potentially drive substantial economic growth. During this formative stage, MS will work alongside the Lake to River team.

Going forward, company will focus on enhancing efficiency, Buchenic says. It is transitioning to a new enterprise resource planning system, which is expected to streamline operations, improve project management and enhance service to clients.

MS remains dedicated to community service. It supported numerous local initiatives last year. The company was founded in 1963 in Youngstown and continues to maintain an office downtown. The firm employs 375.
