YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will cap its 150th anniversary year with a Founders Day Open House on Sept. 5 at the Tyler History Center.

The event, held in partnership with First Fridays Youngstown, runs 4 to 8 p.m. and will feature live music, food trucks, community groups and open houses at nearby businesses. MVHS will host a local history fair, offer Spring Common tours and provide family activities. Admission is free, and free parking will be available in the historical society’s lot next to the Tyler History Center.

Sweet Memories Vintage Tees will launch three new Good Humor–themed designs outside the center as part of First Friday. Proceeds will benefit Akron Children’s Hospital, where the partnership has raised $70,000 for the neonatal intensive care unit. Founder Linda Barton has also revived Golden Age Beverage with two new designs celebrating the return of a historic Youngstown brand. “I love taking old brands and giving them new life in a way that benefits a cause and captures our culture,” Barton said.

Founded in 1875, the historical society collects, preserves and shares the history of the Mahoning Valley.
