MVMC, Columbiana County Agencies Host Hiring Event April 13

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition is partnering with the Columbiana County Port Authority and Sustainable Opportunity Development Center to host a hiring event April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will be held at the SOD Center at 440 Pennsylvania Ave. Job-seekers ranging from recent high school graduates to current workers seeking a career change are invited to attend, learn about open positions and talk with employers, some of whom are ready to hire on the spot, according to a release.

“Participating employers are all local to Columbiana County, they have good-paying jobs with benefits to offer, and they are ready to hire,” said Julie Michael Smith, MVMC project manager.

Industries include manufacturing, health care and technology. Attendees are encouraged to bring their driver’s license and copies of their resume or work history.

Career coaches and regional training providers will be on hand to help with career planning and preparation, and to help identify free or low-cost training programs. The hiring event will highlight “learn and earn” career-building programs like WorkAdvance and apprenticeships.
